Preparing your data for Smart Cities using FME 2018

3359 Mississauga Road. CCT Building (Communications, Culture & IT), 2nd floor, Room 2150, Closest Parking is Lot #9

Smart City initiatives aim to provide seamless intelligent services to citizen. These services are and will be largely data-driven, which will greatly increase the importance and role of data in their success. This brings data quality, processes and interconnectivity into play, as municipalities depend on an increasing amount of information to make decisions. Please join us for this full-day workshop which will outline how GIS/data professionals and managers can leverage ETLin the preparation of their data to successfully rolling out ‘’smart city’’ initiatives.

The hands-on exercises in the workshop will introduce GIS professionals to ETL(Extract, Transform, Load) processes for ensuring data quality and interconnectivity across their organization using FME (Feature Manipulation Engine). After introducing participants with some new ETL features in FME 2018, we will cover the following topics:

  • Implementing data quality processes
  • Breaking silos between systems through data integration
  • Democratizing data through advanced ETL (data dissemination, validation, preparation and distribution)
  • Distributing and sharing spatial and non-spatial data sets with various stakeholders
  • And finally, using Automation to implement these processes efficiently across the organization.
