The Canopy Mapping Co. / BeSpatial Ontario Data Architecture and Coding Competition celebrates creativity, technical excellence, and problem-solving within the geospatial community. Whether you've built an automated workflow, developed a custom script, created a geoprocessing model, or designed an innovative data solution, we want to see it!

Submissions for 2026 are currently closed. Now is the time to review your favourite projects to prepare for the 2027 awards! 

What can you submit?

Examples include:

  • Scripts and custom code
  • Automations and workflows
  • Geoprocessing models
  • FME Workbenches

Submissions can be anything that is not a map output, though it may produce one.

Competition details

  • Prize: $500 cash prize and trophy
  • Winner Announced: BeInspired 2027
  • Eligibility: Active BeSpatial Ontario members
  • Submission Format: Online form and a video presentation (maximum 10 minutes)

Participants are not required to share their source code or complete solution. A demonstration and overview of the approach and functionality is sufficient.
