The Young Professionals Network (YPN) connects and supports students and early-career GIS professionals within their first 1–7 years in the field. Whether you're just starting out or building your career, YPN provides opportunities to learn, connect, and grow within the geospatial community.

Who can join?

• GIS professionals in the first 7 years of their GIS career
• Individuals who have transitioned into GIS from another field (regardless of age or career stage)
• Students and early-career individuals
• YPN membership is included with the BeSpatial membership (student discounts available)

The Dr. Barry Wellar Young Professional of the Year Award recognizes one outstanding individual who is making a meaningful impact in the GIS field. This award highlights young professionals who demonstrate strong technical ability, leadership, and innovative thinking while contributing to real-world solutions and resilient communities.

Award Details

• Eligibility: 1–7 years of experience in GIS
• Prize: $500 and a commemorative trophy
• Winner Announcement: BeSpatial's annual event; BeInspired
