Webinar will be led by Andrea Dort & Kevin Farrugia, Peel Data Centre, Open Data Program
Andrea Dort, Specialist, Data Analysis and Outreach
Andrea Dort is a Specialist in Data and Outreach with the Peel Data Centre. As the lead for socio-demographic data, Andrea works with users to better understand and use data. Building on her background in GIS, Andrea enjoys merging spatial elements with demographics and finding new ways to open up data for all users.
Kevin Farrugia, Advisor, Open Data Program
Kevin Farrugia is an Advisor with the Peel Data Centre, where he started as a co-op student nearly 12 years ago. After graduating with a Geomatics degree, he’s built on his hard and soft skills through many diverse projects and through working with other civil servants and citizens to provide and use data. Now most of his time is spent working with colleagues on improving GIS and data maturity, improving access to data, and integrating automation into workflows, as well as continuing to lead the Open Data program.
The Region of Peel's new Census Information Hub is a welcoming space for users to interact with Statistics Canada data that’s central to understanding our communities.
In a visually appealing, storytelling style, the Hub is a move from a static PDF Census Bulletin to an engaging online platform driven by Esri ArcGIS Hub. The change to a dynamic platform allows us to expand to a wider audience - from data novices to professionals - increasing the number of people that can access, explore, and derive insights from Census data.
During this webinar, Andrea and Kevin will tell the story of how they designed the Hub, built content around the Census, undertook user experience testing, used ArcGIS Online tools, and the lessons they've learned along the way.
