Biography
My education was in geology with a minor in math and computer science. In 1987, after graduating university I had the opportunity to obtain a job with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines to explore implementing new technologies to the mining industry. This project involved utilizing GIS and GPS for geological mapping. I was fortunate to be one of the first people in Ontario to utilize GPS and link GPS data to GIS.
In 1990, I formed a small company offering integrated GIS and GPS services. We developed software that allowed real time GPS tracking within desktop GIS. Solutions were implemented for MNR for tracking forest fires and herbicide spraying.
From 2000 to 2023, was Manager of the Sault Ste Marie Innovation Centre’s Acorn Information Solutions Group, which is a not for profit organization dedicated to promoting and establishing the means to share data, knowledge and tools among community organizations to create healthier, safer and more prosperous communities.
In 2024 I joined ESRI Canada as the Customer Success Manager for Ontario Region
